Adjusting the Clip Retention Screw in the LockLeather, Mavado and Urban Carry G3 [AI Compatible]Updated 10 days ago

Before attempting to fit your firearm in your holster the first time, ensure that it is unloaded. Your holster may have one or more tension screw adjustments. These screws are not preset at the factory. You may need to loosen (or tighten) them to adjust the tension on your firearm the first time, after which you can adjust the tension screw(s) to the tension you desire.

We recommend you check all holster screw “tension” before each use.

Tension screws are easily adjusted using a Phillips head screwdriver(s), in some instances the post on the back also has a slot for a second screwdriver. Slotted posts are not provided in those instances where contact may damage clothing (when a burr is created by a screwdriver), it may be necessary to apply pressure on the post using your thumb or a rubberized item/tool in order to prevent the entire tension unit from spinning. If the holster is too tight, do not attempt to force your unloaded firearm into it. Back out the tension unit screw, checking at regular intervals. Likewise, if your holster is too loose, tighten your tension unit while checking at regular intervals. Removing the entire tension unit is unnecessary.

DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW OR BUSHINGS! These are added safety features.

PRO-TIPS

1. Do not use Loctite. A drop of nail polish on the threads will keep the screw secure but can be broken free if needed.

2. Be sure to test the retention of your unloaded firearm while positioned in the carry position as this may affect the level of retention needed. Bear in mind the resistance and force will change with positioning.

How far can the retention screw be opened before it falls out? Answering ths questions requires the use of an old grade school shop class technique. "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey". For those clock/watch enthusiasts, like myself, to tighten the screw you turn clockwise, to loosen the screw you turn counter clockwise.

Your new LockLeather Holster and Urban Carry G3 comes with a retention system, if interested in learning more about how this system works please review the following: LockLeather - Retention Clip.

How the retention system in your LockLeather holster works:

Upon receiving your holster you will notice there is a Philips head screw (+) and a flat-head (-) flanged rivet nut. We recommend that you use the Philips head (+) side to make your adjustments to the pressure in the cavity.

Now to the brass tacks! How to Tighten / Loosen the Screw

The easiest way to answer the questions is to turn the Philips head screw (+) Left/Counter Clockwise until the flat-head (-) flanged rivet nut spins freely.

With a standard screw driver using the Philips head screw (+), start off by tightening the screw (right/clockwise) until the screw is flush with the flat-head (-) flanged rivet nut. Then turn the Philips head screw (+) (left/counter clockwise) until you feel there is no more tension when turning the screw. This removes the pressure off of the rubber grommet which you can see when looking into the holster. Essentially the grommet is compressed when the Philips head screw (+) is tight versus decompressed when the Philips head screw (+) is loose.

Rest assured if the Philips head screw (+) inadvertently comes loose, or falls out, all you need to do is tighten (right/clockwise) the Philips head screw (+) until it makes contact with the flat-head (-) flanged rivet nut.
