Our belts are made of English Bridle Leather

  • Our English Bridle is an all natural bull-hide leather
  • English Bridle leather is a much firmer leather and for this reason it has been used for centuries in the equestrian trade as it is very strong and durable
  • English Bridle leather endures an intensive and expensive finishing process and because of this only the best quality hides- those free of flaws and defects- are chosen to go through the process
  • English Bridle leather is a full grain leather which is usually thoroughly impregnated with grease and finished with wax to give the leather a deep, even color and smooth finish - it is not, however, ever sanded and the only "additive" to manipulate the finish is the color dye
  • Our English Bridle Leather has smooth, burnished edges with both the flesh and grain sides of the leather treated; the flesh or raw portion will be on the inside of the belt or holster.

What does this mean for you? The English Bridle Leather will take longer to break in but will maintain its form, shape and overall appearance longer and become more supple over time.

If you are concerned about an exact match to your belt we recommend considering the English Bridle Leather Holster.

A couple of additional notes: all of our belts are ONE THICK piece of leather. We never use two pieces of leather sewn or bonded together as time will always separate them. Our belts are a 1/4" thick. The leather we use is 100% one piece - not glued bits and pieces like many companies do and then claim genuine leather.  With this in mind, leather is an all natural product and can have slight variations.  Our leather is not manufactured on an an assembly line and comes... well, straight from the cow and therefore we do not get to choose the thickness of the leather without artificially modifying (using sewing or bonding techniques) which deceases its longevity (and we find that unacceptable).
